Bitcoin Pizza Day 2026 in Ljubljana: A Conversation About the Future of Bitcoin

Bitcoin Pizza Day 2026 in Ljubljana brought together industry leaders, developers, and members of the Slovenian Bitcoin community to discuss the future of Bitcoin and the broader crypto ecosystem.

The event was also an opportunity to recognise the outstanding work of Toni Čepon, who has led Bitcoin Slovenia through another remarkable year as its president. As a passionate advocate and ambassador for Bitcoin, his dedication has played a key role in strengthening the Slovenian Bitcoin community. Special recognition also goes to Klemen Končan Verstovšek, the association’s secretary, whose commitment and hard work have been instrumental in the organisation’s success. Their contribution has helped shape one of Europe’s most active Bitcoin ecosystems.

One of the highlights of the event was a panel discussion featuring David Zabransky (Bybit EU), Gregor Oprčkal (NAKA), and Urban Lavrenčič (NiceHash), moderated by Tanja Bivic Plankar, representative of Blockchain Alliance Europe. The discussion explored the technological, regulatory, and strategic challenges that will define the next stage of Bitcoin’s development.

The panel concluded that the crypto industry is entering a new phase of maturity. While innovation and growth remain essential, sustainable long-term success will increasingly depend on security, responsible development, adaptability to regulation, and the industry’s ability to address emerging technological risks.

Quantum computing was identified as one of the most significant long-term considerations for Bitcoin and existing cryptographic systems. Rather than creating fear, experts emphasised the importance of preparation and proactive research to ensure the resilience of blockchain infrastructure in the years ahead.

The discussion also addressed the growth of prediction markets. As blockchain-based platforms continue to evolve, regulatory questions surrounding transparency, accountability, and legal classification are becoming increasingly relevant. Establishing clear frameworks will be essential to supporting innovation while maintaining trust and protecting users.

Bitcoin Pizza Day 2026 demonstrated that the conversation around Bitcoin has evolved far beyond price movements. The focus is increasingly shifting toward building a secure, resilient, and well-regulated ecosystem capable of supporting long-term adoption and innovation.
