On the 15th anniversary of Bitcoin Pizza Day, Bitcoin Slovenia hosted a vibrant community gathering in Ljubljana to commemorate this historic milestone in crypto history. Blockchain Alliance Europe is proud to be a long term partner of Bitcoin Slovenia and happy to be part of the event. The evening was not just about celebration, but also about reflection and dialogue on the current state and future of the bitcoin ecosystem.
A highlight of the event was an insightful panel discussion focused on crypto taxation in Slovenia and comparison across Europe. The conversation explored how regulatory approaches are influencing innovation, adoption, and the broader industry landscape. The panel was led by Tanja Bivic Plankar, President of Blockchain Alliance Europe, alongside Klemen Končan Verstovšek from the Bitcoin Slovenia and Gregor Oprčkal from NAKA.
A key theme that emerged was the demand for simplicity and user-friendliness in crypto payments. Participants emphasised that excessive bureaucracy can hinder the adoption and innovation of new ideas. The discussion also addressed the impact of EU directives on the payments sector, raising concerns about the erosion of privacy rights when governments overlook essential civil liberties.
The event brought together many familiar faces, underscoring the strength and vitality of our growing community. We’re proud to see such enthusiasm and engagement from all corners of the ecosystem.
Special thanks to Bitcoin Slovenia, and everyone who attended, shared ideas, forged new connections, and helped make the evening truly memorable.
